About (LAFS) Learning and Fellowship Services

Center for Learning and Fellowship Services

We are a rural community garden with 3 acres available for cultivation. All are welcome to create their own plot and invest in their own "Grow your own food" campaign. We share tools, dirt, vegetables and information.

We have been successful growing cucumbers, pineapple, purple eggplant, tomatoes, bell pepper, papaya, bananas, taro, sweet potatoes, strawberries, mustard cabbage, squash, parsley, spearmint, variety of flowers, etc..

The County of Hawaii has sponsored us throughout our endeavors to promote community gardening. We have expanded to a half acre plot in Paradise Park (29th and Kaloli) and soon to be in Keaukaha Hawaiian Homes, Hilo, on Desha St..

We give away our produce to those in need, and at the Give and Take Market in Hilo. Also Malia Puka O Kalani Church in Hilo. Hawaii Community College is using the garden for their Taro Club this year.
